US MODEL 1842 PERCUSSION NAVAL SINGLE SHOT PISTOL
U.S. model 1842 percussion naval single shot pistol. Lock plate stamped N.P. AMES SPRINGFIELD MASS USN 1845, proof marks RP over P stamped on barrel,'RP' stands for Richard Paine the inspector & 'P' for proofed, R stamp to brass butt plate, caliber .54 smooth bore,Overall length 12 inches. Ames produced around 2,000 of these pistols all of which were delivered to the Navy in 1845. All Ames pistols are stamped 1842,1843,1844 or 1845. The 1842 AMES model
US Navy pistol represents the 1st percussion pistol ever made & delivered under contract to the US goverment. All of these pistols are the same in design with the exception of the first 300 which have a different shaped lock plate.

A rare pair of Belgian Ladies Muff pistols, c1850, border & scroll engraving to boxlock with concealed drop down trigger with ebony handles, barrels stamped 400 overall length 97mm in non original lined case. In very good to excellent overall condition, no pitting or corrosion, further pictures available upon request
